Happy Baby

His day started very early this morning, but he sure was in a good mood! He was babbling away before 6am. He had a new tooth pop through yesterday, but I couldn't get a good picture of it. We met our friends for live music & dinner last night & Filson loved being outside and around all the people, as usual. John had to miss it, but will head home later today. He'll get to stay in town next week since he is taking a few days off while our family visits. We've heard from a few people that an up close shot of Filson's toothy grin is actually on the new Hamburger Joe's commercial, but unfortunately it's on CBS, the only main station we don't get with our bunny ears antenna! They filmed the commercial a couple weeks ago while we were there. Hopefully we can catch a glimpse of it at some point!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Testing out the Big Teeth

Our friend sent us these pics of Filson digging into corn on the cob Sunday night. His 2 big bucks are perfect for it!

Memorial Day Weekend

We enjoyed the long weekend and were able to get out on the water Sunday & Monday. It was the first time Filson had been in the water and he seems to love it. He was a trooper, he hung in there for almost 5 hrs out each day. He sure slept well last night and is already out for tonight. We had 2 gorgeous days and the water is so clear and pretty, although it will be a few more weeks before the water temp is warm enough for me!

Daddy's Little Helper

I know you all check this blog for the pictures of Filson and not for my writing, so I held out on posting until I could add pics. I left my camera in Raleigh last weekend and haven't had any new pics to share with you. Thanks, Anna Leigh, for getting it returned so quickly!! I know my husband is getting a kick out of my forgetfulness...first the wallet, then the cell phone & now the camera. I've recovered all the items I've misplaced, but I'm not sure where my memory has gone!

The Little Guy had a fun day with his Dad last Sunday. From the pictures, you can tell he's into anything that moves. He got behind the wheel of Starr's Jeep, John's Land Rover, and John D's lawnmower last weekend.

He also had his first boo-boo Wed night when he fell down and got a cut by his eye. It didn't seem to bother him much, and I'm sure is only the first of many accidents to come!

He is finally starting to get the hang of feeding himself. He picked up a piece of scrambled egg Thurs morning & was very pleased with himself when he stuck it in his mouth. He continues to try to feed himself, but right now it's mostly just his fist that gets in there and the food ends up on the floor. He has also mastered the High-Five and is very excited to give those!

His Dad came home Thurs night, and he has hardly let him out of his site since then. When John's around, Filson is right at his heels. As you can see in one picture, John had both Cooper & Filson's help at trying to fix the screen door last night.

Hope you all enjoy the long weekend!

In to everything

Our little guy seems to have grown a lot this week. Each day he is discovering something on a ledge or table that he wasn't able to reach a couple days ago. His new favorite pastime is opening/closing doors and pulling things out of their place. Whether it's the kitchen cabinet, the dryer or dresser drawers, he has figured out how to get into it and remove every item inside. I can't complain though, at least this new game keeps him entertained for awhile!

He has learned how to clap and is very proud of himself for this! I tried to capture it on a video, but he was much more interested in the camera than in showing off his new talent. We went to Fit for Fun yesterday and he loved all the open space to crawl around and chase balls and trucks. Anything with wheels or dials catches his attention now. They have music playing in the background and every once in awhile a song would catch his attention and he would sit for a minute clapping and swaying to the tune. Last night we met friends at Hamburger Joe's for the live music and tonight we'll head to the Mayfaire Friday night lawn concert if the rain holds off.

Wedding Pictures

The Poppe wedding was beautiful & we saw a lot of great friends.

Iowa Pictures

Iowa

It was so fun seeing everyone in Iowa! The little guy loved trying to keep up with his cousins. They taught him how to give kisses, and we have received a ton since we've been home. He got to spend time with his Grandpa & Grandma & both Great-Grandma's, so he is a lucky boy.

Beach Day

Sunday was nice and we were able to take the boat out for awhile. Filson tried out his swim trunks for the first time. It will be a few more weeks before the water temperature is warm enough to get in and really try them out! We snapped a couple shots of him before we left the house & he would not crack a smile. I think he was letting us know he had outgrown the beach had we were trying to make him wear and he didn't want any part of it!!
He got along really well in the sand and loved pushing trucks around and watching the bigger kids run around.

Curly

The past few days his hair has started to curl around the edges....looks like he is taking after his Grandpa!! It is so cute, and this morning he has 2 curls, one over each ear. We tried to capture it in a picture, but it's not quite as funny as it is in real life!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Merlefest

Here are some pics from our camping trip to Merlefest last weekend. We had a great time and I think Reece & Holden enjoyed the camping experience as well. They make some great smores!! Their little cousin loved trying to keep up with them! We did have a thunderstorm come through Saturday afternoon, so we ended up going back to the festival on Sunday morning so we could see Doc Watson perform. I'm already looking forward to next year's festival!

Getting Started

I am taking a shot at starting a family blog. This way everyone can check it out as much or little as they want & I won't feel like I'm overflowing your inbox with photos all the time. Our little guy seems to be figuring out something new everyday now and I know the grandparents will want to stay updated on all the changes. He is also getting more vocal, so hopefully I'll be able to post some of the short videos we capture of him as well.

He had his 9 month check up Wednesday & he is healthy & tipping the scales at 20lb 11oz. We have had an active couple of days, yesterday morning we met friends at Fit for Fun, then Anna Leigh came to visit & we headed to the live music at Hamburger Joes. Today we had lunch and walked on the beach. She looks & feels great & we are so anxious for Baby C to arrive! We'll be home this weekend, doing things around the house & getting ready for our trip to Iowa. We're all looking forward to seeing everyone there!
