The Boys

Here are a few random pics of the boys from the week. We have enjoyed some nice weather to get outside & burn off some energy!
He was very proud of this tower & wanted his picture taken to show his Dad!
I think this is pretty funny, he almost looks like he is stressed out. I'm sure at 7 mths he does have a lot weighing on his mind! Or maybe he's just on the lookout for the next object his brother is about to fling in his direction.
I'll give Filson a break, he isn't ALWAYS trying to harm his brother. There are many adorable moments like this when I catch them in a serious conversation.

I went out with the girls last night & the boys snuggled up for movie night with John.

Party Time

We spent yesterday morning at Power of Play for a friend's birthday party & had a great time!

I guess our little guy has this present thing figured out now, as Filson was about to EXPLODE, wanting so badly to be the one tearing into the gifts!

Warming Up

I took the boys to the Children's Museum yesterday morning & it was warm enough for them to have the weekly toddler activity outside. It felt so nice to be out in the sun & to see Filson run off some energy!

A real school bus-the kids can play in the seats in front & the back half is blocked off to become a greenhouse for their gardening club

Ian finally got his turn to get out of the stroller & play a little!

Story Hour with the Dancing Firemen

The Carolina Firecrew came to story hour this morning. They sing, rap, line dance & conga to familiar songs that have been rewritten with a fire safety message. Pretty entertaining, although Filson spent the entire time with his fingers in his mouth playing shy. I think he was a little unsure of Sparky, the fire dog!

7 Months

Time is really passing quickly as Ian hit the 7 mth mark yesterday. We think he is at a great stage right now & is full of personality. Filson even discovered that he can now give his little brother a car & they can 'play' together, which entertains both of them. He began sitting up on his own this month & is turning into quite the eater. As you can tell from the pics, happily sitting still is no longer of interest to him!

The Weekend

Another weekend has flown by. Friday morning I took the boys to our Children's Museum for the morning. We had a really good time & even after a couple of hours it was hard to pull Filson out the door. We will probably make it a routine trip now that we have become members & it will be a great reason to get out of the house & wear out the boys!
On Saturday we headed to the beach to watch the Paddle Board contest & grab lunch at Dockside. The racers basically stand on a surfboard & paddle either a 7mi or 3.5mi loop around Wrightsville Beach. I think there were close to 100 people in it & it was really cool to watch. At 30-something degrees, I was certainly happy to be on the sidelines & not out ON (or IN, as would be the case if I tried to balance myself on a surfboard for 7mi) the water!
I unfortunately forgot to take the camera along anywhere this weekend, so here are just a few shots from around the house.
Got Drool?
Ian began sitting up this week...although he still tends to topple over to one side occasionally
Lovin from Dad
The cold weather has meant lots of inside time to try & perfect the racetrack building skills
Cuddled up to watch TV this morning. Filson's cheeks look a little red & his eyes are droopy & sure enough, by this evening he was running a fever. Hopefully he'll wake up better in the morning!

Playing at home
Last week we were treated to a visit from Grandma Nancy! The boys & I drove to Raleigh to pick her up Tues night & she stayed until Sat morning. Thanks to her, the boys got a lot of fun & undivided attention & John & I's 'to-do' lists shrank a lot. The two of us even got a night out alone on New Year's Eve! We hope her next visit will be a lot longer & that Papa will be able to come along, but we definitely enjoyed the time we had. We really appreciated all the help!!
The boys have been fighting colds/congestion for a couple weeks, so we have had many short nights since Christmas. I think we're finally getting everyone back on a healthy track & even starting to catch up on our sleep. I'd love to complain about how "cold" it's been here this week, but considering our highs of 40s are still about 50 degrees warmer than all of you Iowa folks, I should probably keep my mouth shut!!
After having lots of issues with my computer, I finally did a complete restore over the weekend. I feel a little lost after going a couple days without my connection to the outside world & am slightly disappointed with myself for not saving my email correctly & losing everybody's contact information, but I'm happy to finally be back & running in cyberworld. I also have a new toy from Christmas that I am finally figuring out how to use & hopefully the photos on the site will start to improve. (Although John told me it's probably the photographer & not the camera that had issues!!)
Happy 2010 to you all!
