Trick-or-Treat

Daddy's Little Pumpkin
Our 3 Little Monsters
Trick or Treat Under the Sea
Last night at the Fort Fisher Aquarium annual Halloween event.
Pirate Filson pondering the googlie eyes in the tank
1st stop of the night for treats
They have a lot of fun decorations & put something in almost every tank. The stingrays are swimming under this pirate.
The shark's tank, but we missed the costumed divers this year. We were able to catch a performance of the magic show, Pirates Have Problems. It had us all laughing & must have made an impression on Filson, he's tried a few "magic" tricks on me today!
Those are some serious shark's teeth!

The Boys

Super-cool 3D Halloween shades that came in the mail from Iowa this week!
Little Drummer Boy...this is his favorite new position. He crawls to them & pulls himself right up. He just hangs out on them for awhile, but isn't beating us any tunes yet!

Pumpkin Carving

The boys had a good time last night.
They began by carving their pumpkins....
...then took a break to help make homemade pizza....
....and headed back out to light up their jack-o-lanterns.
Little Boo-G at breakfast this morning. Doesn't that puzzle piece look yummy : )

a Pirate, a Pilot, & a Pumpkin

Looks like Grant's having fun : )
An early Halloween party with some friends at WB Park this afternoon. As you can see, the Pirate was way too cool for this photo op with the little kids.

Oyster Roast

What we've all been waiting for!Vada & Filson ready to party
Get 'em while they're hot!
Possum Creek
Vada & Judy, dance partners!
Isla & Anna Leigh
Vada & I having fun

Last night was our oyster roast, which we get excited for every year. It was a blast, and we had so much help from some good friends to put it all together. Anna Leigh & the girls came Friday & she was amazing helping with preparations & the boys.
We found out Friday afternoon that it would not be possible for us to buy oysters on Saturday, a slight bump in the road considering that's what this party is all about! Oyster season opens on the 15th each year, but it fell on a Saturday & commercial fisherman aren't allow to sell oysters on weekends. When getting them for recreation, you're only allowed to bring in 1 bushel....but we were hoping for at least 4 for the night. So John rounded up 3 other good friends & headed out late afternoon & pulled back in about an hour & a half before the guests began arriving!
I'm sure the guys were all worn out, but they made our night. There were plenty to go around & they were still steaming them up at 1am. Amazingly, Filson didn't want to miss one single moment of the party, finally crashing around 2am. He was in seventh heaven running around with the other kids & having access to unlimited cookies & juice boxes. I wish I had some of that energy!

Future Firemen

Our playgroup toured the Wrightsville Beach Fire Station Thursday. They were able to get on a couple of different trucks & our little guys loved it!

7 Months Old

Grant turned 7 months old yesterday. We saw him crawl last night! He has been army crawling for quite awhile & gets around so quickly that I wasn't sure he'd even try to do the real thing. He's eating solid food like a champ & his 2 top teeth busted through this week to match the pair he's grown on the bottom. He had a great check-up at the doctor this morning & is 16.5lbs. It's so fun to see him interact with his brothers, they love to make him laugh!

Not a great shot, as he wiggled out of the chair, but I wanted to show off those big bottom chompers...

A little of this & a little of that

Here are some random pics of what we've been up to this week. The pictures seem to be piling up quicker these days before I'm able to get them posted! We met our playgroup at the Arboretum Friday morning for a picnic. Here Filson & Ian are climbing the mushrooms with a couple of the girls.
Lined up & ready for skipping/hopping/running races
A wild game of "Duck, Duck, Goose", of which the concept was obviously lost on this group of toddlers, as you can see no ducks remained in their spots!
If you look closely, you can see the deer in our driveway. Lately, Ian spends lots of time "looking for deer" or asking "where did that deer go"? So early Saturday morning as he's staring out the window, John asks him what he's looking for, which he replied "that deer". We got a good laugh when we realized he in fact was finally looking at his deer!
After Filson's soccer game Saturday we had a "family reunion" picnic for the renters/owners at the marina & then a pool party at a neighbors down the street. I had a hard time thinking anyone would want to be swimming in October, but it ended up being a gorgeous day for all the activities. Here Filson is hanging out at the marina during the picnic.
Little Grant loves sitting in the hippo chair being fed. I don't know how we'll keep enough food in our house to feed these 3! John snapped these pics yesterday because his little fuzz was sticking up & looked like he woke up with "bed head".
Our friend is organizing a drive for the Pajama Program, which collects new pjs/books to be shipped to children that are waiting to be adopted & may not have the comfort of being tucked into bed by their parents each night. This morning we went to a friends house for a PJ Party to decorate the box we will use to ship our collection.
Ian getting in on the action
Grant & Ren having their own party, steering clear of all the tiny "non-baby proof" stickers & misc. craft supplies that ended up on the floor
The boys are shocked to discover donuts, donut holes & rice krispie treats in addition to the bowl of popcorn they had just finished off. They are not used to a feast like that at 9:30 in the morning, and took full advantage of it!

Up on all 4s & ready to rock
Grant's finally getting in on the racetrack building, these 3 will all be playing together in no time
Playing at the Children's Museum Tuesday with their buddies Carter & Grady
At a birthday party Thursday afternoon where both boys loved feeding the animals & chasing the chickens at the farm
She offered Ian the chance to brush the pony's hair, but he wasn't so sure!
Some of the party crew ready for a hayride around the farm
Filson enjoying his pony ride
Feeding more animals
Party time....ready for some sweet treats!
Horses & pigs on sticks & chocolate cupcakes, quite the feast!

Our temps changed this weekend & we had a couple of beautiful days...perfect football weather!
