The Boys

Showing off the new lego walkie-talkies that Uncle Pups sent for Ian's birthday.  They love them, and Filson especially loves a gift that he gets to enjoy as much as the birthday boy!
Not a bad way to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

Grant didn't even make it out of the parking lot before passing out.  They were troopers this weekend.  Filson had a birthday pool party after our morning on the boat.  Then all the boys stayed up playing at Simply Play way past their bedtime while John & I rocked out at the G Love concert.  And Sunday we spent the afternoon at another birthday pool party.  I've been waiting all week for them to catch up on their sleep, but have yet to make it past 6:15am!!  I can't wait til they want to sleep til noon as teenagers & I can go jump on their beds at 6am : )

I'm getting a kick out of watching Ian ride his bike!  He is so proud of himself that he can now take off & stop on his own & he can not wait to get outside each day to do laps around the house.  Yesterday I wasn't sure about taking the boys to do the 1.5mi loop around the lake at Smith Creek Park, but they both really wanted to take their bikes.  I was certain I would be stuck carrying a bike or 2 halfway around the loop!  I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't need my help at all, and I got to walk/jog Grant in the stroller while Filson & Ian both cruised along on their bikes.
Wild Kratt time....the show that has all 3 mesmerized.  The house almost seems peaceful & calm when it's on.  It conveniently airs at 6:30a (I can shower!) & 5p (I can prepare food!).  I must find the person at PBS in charge of this genius scheduling & bribe him to not make any changes until Grant is about 5 ; )
Today I received a cd from WB Surf Camp with all the pictures from our clinic we did a few weeks ago.  They were so generous to not only provide us a morning of free yoga & surf lessons, but also had a professional photographer & gave us all the pictures.  Such a treat!  I know my hubby is going to laugh at me for posting this, but it may be the only wave I ever catch in my life, so I thought I'd show it off ;)

Iowa

Grant & I took off for Iowa on Friday to a rough start of delayed flights & lots of extra time in the airport.  However, it was actually kind of fun getting to spend some time alone with my "baby" & the flying part went pretty smoothly.  Here he is being a ham during dinner at the airport in Atlanta.
Once in Iowa, he was passed off to Papa & Meme for a weekend of spoiling ; )

Being silly in the camper on Saturday.
His big brothers also loved this rocking horse when they were his age.

Bathtime in the same tub his mama was bathed in!
Thanks to Mom & Dad, Grant was being showered with attention & I spent my weekend laughing, reminiscing with old friends & waking up to the incredible peacefulness at the lake : )
Our flight home was delayed, leaving us stranded for a night in Des Moines, but Grant was happy to get a few more hours with Papa & Meme.  Here he is giving one last big hug before they headed back to Mt. Ayr Sunday night.
We missed John & the big boys, but are pretty sure they had plenty of fun while we were gone.  They were both so proud to show me the front porch that they helped their Dad clean & to tell me about the fish they caught!

Ian Turns THREE!

Discovering a new Lightning McQueen bike in the toy room this morning
Testing out his new ride
He's ready to shoot some hoops
Vada turned him onto the Llama Llama series & they're now one of his favorites
Turning 3 is pretty sweet!
Ian chose to spend the morning at Power of Play, which has different activity centers & a lot of indoor playground equipment

Ian's looking through the telescope from his "house"

Dr. Boo prepares to take Boo-G's blood pressure, who's already been confined to the wheel chair.  He must be in bad shape ; )

I wish this was on video, because he was belting out the tunes.  LOUDLY.  Twinkle Twinkle Little Star & Old MacDonald were repeated over & over & over again!

Filson skipped the performance stage & went for the keyboard.  Maybe JDR is searching for some new band members?!?

Our plans to head to the Wilmington Sharks baseball game were rained out tonight.  The boys weren't too disappointed, we headed out for pizza, played in the kids section at Barnes & Noble, & cruised through the toy aisle at World Market.  Filson could have used this umbrella hat in Wilmington today!

There was just enough daylight left when we got home to take the brand new bike out for a spin.  He seems to have the hang of it.  His pedal-less bike he's been riding for the past few months really taught him balance & he gets to skip right over the training wheels!
He is so excited to do "loops" with Filson around the house.

Fun visit with Mimi

 Racing around the house

Friday morning I took the boys to the Splash into Summer event at the Children's Museum
Now that Ian's had practice scrubbing the school bus, I need to get him to work on my car!
 Digging for seashells
Filson cleaning & changing the baby dolls...he could help me with this job at home, too!

We were excited to have Mimi come from Charleston Saturday & we took the boat out & spent the afternoon on the beach.  We really enjoyed having her here to visit & she helped us celebrate Ian's birthday!

Our little Boo will turn 3 tomorrow!
He loves his new suitcase from Mimi.  So much that he went ahead & packed it for our trip to Idaho (over 5 wks away) & wanted it lying next to him for his afternoon nap : )
Opening some neat new books from Mimi.
Lil Boo-G, cracking us up tonight in his brothers skate helmet.

Another Nice Weekend

Friday was Filson's last day of swim school, and unfortunately this is the only picture that was taken in all 10 days.  He loved swimming!  I, on the other hand, was ready to par-tay when that last class was over.  All parents/guests of the 90 kids in his session have to go to an upper-level, all concrete bleacher area during class, and at this moment I can't really think of a worse place to have to entertain 2 small children for 1 hour each morning ; )  All complaining aside, I am really thankful he was able to take lessons & look forward to him getting to practice in the water this summer!
We had a great weekend to get outside.  I surfed for the first time Saturday & it was an awesome experience!  A local surf company very generously offers a completely free surf retreat once a year in appreciation of moms with young children.  I had an hour of yoga on the beach & then 3 hrs of surf instruction with about 30 other women and I was very excited to get to be a part of it.  It was a really great way to start off the weekend!
Boo-G thinks he has his license to drive

 Saturday afternoon bubbles

Hard telling what this guy's up to!
 Our Lil' Boo-G
It was 80+ & sunny, so I'm not sure what the rainboots were all about.
Then again, it was 4 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, so I'm not sure what the pajamas were about, either : )
